Online courses

I’m running online one-to-one Zoom-based pottery classes. Check out the range of courses, below. It will just be you and me at our wheels and you can ask me anything! With each course you’ll receive a full video of our session and we’ll have a 15-minute follow-up call a couple of weeks later to check on your progress.

Simply click the Book button on a course that takes your interest and then choose the date and start time to suit you. If you can’t find a suitable date then just email me and we’ll sort something out.

“I would definitely recommend the course. I’d recommend it to anyone looking to develop their throwing, especially to anyone who, like me, who had hit a bit of plateau and wasn’t quite sure where to go next. It has been so helpful in helping me focus on what I need to develop next so I can progress further.”

“A very inspiring workshop. Trained as a calligrapher, Tom provides a skilled and very informative perspective on brush work. I particularly liked the "off-clay" part, learning how to position the brush to achieve different shapes and trying to find a flow. I wasn't too sure how an online workshop would work, but it turned out to be great as you are in your own studio and using your own tools—the very ones you will use after the workshop. This is a very practical workshop, so you can easily put into practice what you have learned. This workshop opened new horizons for me in working with slip. I highly recommend it!”

“I would recommend novice and advanced potters who are looking to upskill their pottery throwing skills! Tom is very open to sharing his knowledge in pottery. He is also really patient and observant; he is able to spot and guide you to rectify mistakes made in throwing.”

“Tom's course surpassed my expectations. I was surprised how much I got out of a virtual course as I thought it was be hard to really "get" what's going on but that wasn't the case! If you're struggling to get passed something or want to be able to make something you're currently not able to, get booked on!”

“The one to one course with Tom helps one to understand that there are techniques and methods which make throwing larger amounts of clay easier, and it is possible to progress and gain confidence quickly. Tom explains everything very clearly and calmly, and the on screen teaching is a very effective method. The recorded video for future reference is hugely beneficial. I highly recommend courses with Tom.”

Once you have booked a course, I shall send you an email with a link to the online meeting, together with any requirements like tools and clay preparation. Some courses will need longer to prepare for than others.
